The Question

This month we are going to explore a bit more about what we touched on in last weeks’ blog. We are going to try and tackle the most fundamental question here at the DreamAnvil, what exactly is a dream? Whooboy. We are in for a ride.

So, what exactly is a dream? Well that’s a great question! If you want to start a lively discussion at the dinner table I suggest you ask that question. It seems as if everyone has a different answer. Our dreams are extensions of ourselves, our goals, our wishes. So of course the answers will be as varied and colorful as we are. However here at the DreamAnvil we are focused on encouraging you to achieve a very specific kind of dream.

When we discuss dreams here at the DreamAnvil we are not talking about the flights of fancy we have during those boring meetings at work. Those images that appear between our ears while we sleep? Yeah, not those either. We are not talking about daydreams, or cherished memories either. They all have their place but we find them to soft and squishy for the Anvil. When we speak of dreams we are speaking of unbridled and untamed imagination. We are talking about seeing a solution to a problem and acting on it. We are speaking of the impossible act of taking something that was once intangible and dragging it kicking and screaming into our world. Dreams are not just an idle pastime, nor do they come easily. They require a commitment and a passion. They follow no predefined set of rules, or follow a neat and orderly path. No matter how much we plan dreams are unpredictable. Messy. Dirty. Amazing. Uplifting. They are astonishingly beautiful and imperfect. Dreams are more than the things we desire. More than the goals we can accomplish one day. They are the things that we dare to get up and do.

Dreams seek to conquer the unconquerable. Man once looked out upon a world that both sustained and frightened them. Today we have scoured most of the worlds landmasses. We have launched submarines to the lowest ocean depths. We have sent rockets soaring towards the stars.

Dreams inspire us. Progress is often thought of as standing on the shoulders of those who have come before us. We stand atop the successes and dreams of others who have come before. Enthralled by their passion and their art, we are invited in to share the dream.

Dreams provoke us to action, compelling the dreamer forward. They will take us farther than we ever thought we could go. We can attempt things we never dared to think of. Our dreams are much more than a goal, more than a singular desire. Dreamers sacrifice their time not for money or fame, but because they must. The dreamer

So what are dreams? Well it’s complicated. Dreams transform our world. They transform us. They compel us to go beyond ourselves. They inspire us with joy and open our eyes and minds to the possibilities of tomorrow. Dreams are born in the fires of our passion, forged by our desires and tempered by our skill. This is the Dream Anvil. This is where Dreams are forged.
