Happy Fourth!

This weekend is being spent at my parents home in Ohio! My wonderful sister and BIL are in town for their summer break so I came up to Ohio to surprise them! I flew into town on Saturday morning and will be relaxing until Tuesday. It's nice to be spending time away from Raleigh, no worries about the future no, work on the site, just relaxing out on the deck or on the couch and just hanging out with my family.

It is the Fourth of July today a day where we celebrate the birth of our fine nation. Independence day celebrates our separation from Great Britain and our Declaration of Independence. It is a holiday that has been celebrated pretty much since the day the document was signed. That's more than 230 years for those not willing to do the math. Yet did you know that our separation from England occurred two days prior? Yes independence day is celebrated two days late! This is because the Declaration of Independence lists the 4th as the day it was fully endorsed by Congress. Even John Adams fully expected the celebration to take place on the 2nd, he wrote this to his wife the day after the notion was first accepted.

“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”

Sound familiar? It is still celebrated much the same way today! Today millions are watching ballgames, watching parades and celebrating our freedoms. Instead of bonfires we will gather around the barbecue pits and TVs, gathering with friends and family waiting for the main celebration to start. Most people associate independence Day with one thing, Fireworks. Fireworks will light up the night sky from one end of this nation to the other tonight. Love fireworks, the flash, the booms and the fun always make me feel like a kid again. As we all look to the night sky we can imagine ourselves united as one nation, as one people. We will leave behind the politics and opinions that we allow to divide us and we will become for, one moment, one awesome nation.

I will cut this short, I am at home relaxing and recharging my batteries. I Already I have come up with new story ideas and am ready to begin writing again. Job news is still unavailable, sorry. Maybe one day this year I will get some straight answers from these people. Aside from that not, much is going on. Now it's time to get back to my family. Sayonara.
